Persol 714 Sunglasses
I’m in a long-term relationship with my classic tortoise-shell Ray-Ban classic Wayfarers, but each Spring when the weather starts to warm, I find myself perusing for my next pair of statement sunnies. Haven’t found anything in a couple of years comparable to my favourite frames —
There are two new pairs of sunglasses vying for my affection, and both pairs are beyond.
First, check out the unisex appeal and vintage styling of Persol’s 714 sunglasses. Look familiar? Thought so. Steve McQueen made the 714s famous in The Thomas Crown Affair (check out some of my most favourite shots of Steve on my Pinterest). The foldable protoype of Persol’s famous 649 shades, the 714 was the first collapsable pair of glasses. Amazing, right? Persol 714 sunglasses are available in both Havana and crystal yellows, with several lens variations. Pretty sure 714s in crystal yellow would wear wonderfully with my complexion and blonde locks. Just sayin.
Next, I’m absolutely loooving Persol’s Suprema sunglasses. They’ve certainly got a 50s vibe, and almost remind me of Miu Miu’s cat-eye sunglasses from 2011. Divine! Love the shape, the detail, and the faded lens. While they’re not as iconic as 714s, I’m confident that I’d keep a pair of Suprema’s for a lifetime (or at least long-term).
While both pairs of sunglasses are polar opposites on the style spectrum, I’d happily wear both pairs. Persol has a reputation for producing sunglasses with staying power, and these two pairs of sunglasses are no exception.
