Hope Hearts: The Best Blue Clothing
Ah, blue. If you’re a woman who can really wear this colour, then more power to you. Cobalt blue and midnight blue are two variations of the hue that convey strength, confidence, and creativity. And this time of year, when the weather is dreary and the sun doesn’t appear as often as we’d all like, a bright blue is one colour that you can effectively incorporate into your wardrobe that will really liven things up. Some of the best blue clothing out there, in my opinion?
I love these high-waisted, drop crotch, silk crepe pants from Australian designer Kit Willow’s namesake line. These pants are borderline trendy, but the high waist and crepe fabric give them staying power. Paired with anything from a simple tee to your favourite black blazer, these pants by Willow are winners in my book. (Willow high-waisted pants, $495, Net-A-Porter)
Also on my radar is this Lela Rose fringed organza dress. I’m a HUGE fan of party dresses that aren’t strapless, and this Lela Rose dress fits the bill. Effortlessly elegant, this is one of those dresses you can just slip on and go. Minimal accessorizing required, as the tiered fringing and patterned organza really speak for themselves. (Lela Rose fringed organza dress, $1695, Net-A-Porter)
This colour-block dress by A.L.C. is an edgy alternative for work, and makes colour-blocking easy. My favourite part is the viscose/silk fabric composition. Talk about comfort. (A.L.C. Betsee dress, $645, Net-A-Porter)
If you’re like me and you wear a lot of black, it’s always nice to have some separates in bold colours to spice up your look. This draped silk-crepe top by Willow (see above) is done in such an interesting cut and would wear well with anything from a maxi skirt to black skinnies and a blazer.
